Terraced rice-fields of Nii = Nii-no-tanada(新井の棚田) or Nii-no-senmaida(新井の千枚田)
This is one of the famous spot to taking pictures in this area. Especially between beginning of summer to Autumn, the place attracts many photographers.

MUST SEE - Look out spot, Kasamatsu park (傘松公園)

http://www.amano-hashidate.com/043footwork.html
This is the place where you see the "bridge to heaven" view which means "Amanohashidate" in Japanese. Never say you visited Amanohashidate without seeing this view from Kasamatsu park. After arriving at Kasamatsu park, enjoy view from the park and after that, climb up stairs for about 5mins which is another view point. Then I recommend to visit Nariai-ji Temple after that.
If you have a luggage which bother you travel freely, you can use a coin locker or luggage storage service at Kasamatsu Park(only cost about 100yen-200yen). English-speaking staff available!

☆By bus, from Amanohashidate station(天橋立駅) take a bus towards "Ine or Kamanyu or Kyougamisaki(伊根・蒲入・経ヶ岬)" and get off at "Kasamatsu-keburu-shita(傘松ケーブル下)". Bus fare:400JPY(single) Then walk about 2mins(160m), walk towards traffic lights and turn left and go up an alley with souvenier shops. Then take a cable car or chair-lift. You can reach to the park by a chair-lift(6mins) or a cable car(4mins).

☆On foot, from Amanohashidate station, walk through Amanohashidate itself(about 1hour with relaxing pace) and take a left when you arrive at crossroad then you will see boat pier and turn right then you will see the sign of Kasamatsu park. And take a cable car or chair-lift.

☆By bicycle, from Amanohashidate station about 20mins, the same route to the walking.

☆By boat, from Amanohashidate station, walk to Amanohashidate pier(about 5mins) and take a sightseeing boat to Ichinomiya pier. And go straight and you can see the sign of Kasamatsu park. Then take a cable car or chair-lift.
Boat fare: 530JPY(single)

Cable car or Chair-lift : 660JPY(Round trip)
**The ticket is common ticket for cable car and chair-lift, so what I recommend the most is, take a cable car for going up and take a chair-lift for going down.

*Instead of taking a cable car or lift, you can reach to the park about 20mins walk from Fuchu station. But this path has lots of trees that can be fall down anytime, when it's rains flash flood can be occurred, so it is your responsibility to use this path. Also I personally think going up this path is not enjoyable due to you cannot see any views and worth to pay for the ride(cable car or chair-lift).

Boathouses in Ine, Ine-no-Funaya(伊根の舟屋)

This is one of a good excursion from Amanohashidate(天橋立) or Miyazu(宮津).

Among many fishing villages in Japan, this is the first place chosen by the Japanese government as Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings.
The village is about 5km long and if you walk non-stop, it takes about 1hr(in my case). Usually people start sightseeing from "Inewan-meguri-Hide(伊根湾めぐり・日出)" bus stop. From there you can take a sightseeing boat. Please check the following link about the boat. Ine bay sightseeing boat

Getting INE by public transportation
