Local express bus running on weekends and public holidays

Date: On weekends&public holidays from 29th Apr.-5th Nov.2017
Fare: the same as ordinal local bus

For tourists who likes to visit Ine from Miyazu or Amanohashidate, this bus gives you more option to choose time. If you like to enjoy the full coastal scenery, please take timetable of E or G. Bus stop#10 include 15mins break so you can go to the toilet or purchase snack or ice cream on the spot(please eat up before you get on the bus again), if you needed. Bus stop #10 is a photo spot so the bus stops 5mins and you can get off the bus for taking picture. **No toilet on the bus. Bus timetable "I" is ordinal local bus, so the bus stops at each bus stops which include bus stops not listed on here.

Special timetable for sightseeing boat in Amanohashidate 2017

I recommnd taking the sightseeing boat from Miyazu pier where located about 10mins walk from Miyazu station. If you get on the boat from Miyazu, you can enjoy a full view of Amanohashidate from the sideways and the boat pass through a narrow canal. If you get on the boat from Amanohashidate pier that located about 5mins walk from Amanohashidate station, you can only see 2/3 of Amanohashidate.

Ine⇔Miyazu・Amanohashidate boat info for 2017


Why not take a boat to visit Ine?
This boat runs between Miyazu - Amanohashidate - Ine - Ine sightseeing boat pier. The boat has toilet.
*If you get off the boat at "Ine", you will arrive on the place called "Funaya Biyori" complex building. For further info about the building please read another page of my blog.

Miyazu pier 9:50→Amanohashidate pier 10:00→Ine 10:50→Ine sightseeing boat pier 11:00

Ine sightseeing boat pier 14:50→Ine 15:00→Amanohashidate pier 15:50→Miyazu pier 16:00


I highly recommend taking this boat!!  I recommend to stay on the top of the boat from Miyazu pier to end of Amanohashidate, then go inside the boat(Inside the boat has large windows and sometime they have a water tank with some fish which can catch in the local sea). Be prepared for wind and sun!

Uber - Sasae-ai-kotsu(ささえ合い交通)

In Tango region, there is an area where Uber launched first time in Japan since May 2016.
Until now, about 20% of the users are international tourists such as British, Australian from that fact, I thought I can recommend this system on my blog now.
The service cover a trip which start from Tango-cho area.
Fare: 480yen(a base fare, up to 1.5km) then add each 1km cost 120yen.
For example, if you want to ride for 5km, you will pay 900yen.
You can pay by credit card or cash.
Drivers are all local and wearing an orange vest. Please don't expect they have a big car to pick you up.
Operation hours: 8:00-20:00

BIG news!!

Finally, from 10th April 2017, three types of JR-Pass will be valid to use in Kyoto Tango Railway(KTR).
*Kansai WIDE Area Pass
*Kansai-Hiroshima Area Pass
*Kansai-Hokuriku Area Pass

Travel inside of Tango region, theses passes are not that worth it, so if you are staying over night in Tango region and try to utilize these passes, I recommend you to travel into Tango region on the last day of the pass or travel out from Tango region on the beginning of the day of the pass.

How to ride on the local bus in Tango region?

Local buses in Tango region is very reasonable and some routes offers one of the best scenic bus rides in Japan. So why not enjoy taking the bus in Tango region?!  

How to ride:

Please get on the bus from rear door and exit from front door.
The bus fare, please pay when you get off.

Every time, when you enter the bus, please take a numbered slip from a little box.

When your stop is approaching, press one of the buttons on the wall or seat to tell the driver that you wish to get off at the next stop.

A display above the driver shows the next stop and the fares for that stop in JPY. To figure out your fare, match the number on your slip with the number on the display.(Some numbered slips are written in Kanji, so if you cannot read it, please show it to the driver)
Please pay the exact fare, the payment box doesn't give change. Please exchange bills and coins beforehand with the changing machine. The changing machine only accept coins and 1000yen notes.

Tatami mat floor train???

Interested to ride on a train which you can only see in Japan? 
It is called Ozashiki-ressha(お座敷列車) in Japanese, the train has tatami-mat floor and take off your shoes when you ride on. This train runs only seasonally, on the timetable, it is written Akamatsu#1 and #2.

Hop-on and hop-off bus in Tango region

Hop-on and hop-off bus is running this year as well.
I highly recommend using this bus because the bus stops at only sightseeing spots and travelling with this bus is economical and ecological. Also most of time, when you take this bus, they have English announcement and short introduction in English for each spots.
Route and timetables are changed from last year, so if you are interested to use this bus, please use the timetable below.

Fare: 200-600JPY/person per ride

New designed train from 13th Nov. 2015





This train is designed by Eiji Mitooka, who also designed another scenic trains running in Tango region. One of interesting thing about this train is, have a communal area(see the picture below). I wonder if there is any Japanese person who has brave enough to use this space? I hope someone is using this area :D Western style toilet available on the train. The train runs multiple times a day within Kyoto and Tango region.

Ine⇔Miyazu・Amanohashidate boat info for 2015


Why not take a boat to visit Ine?
This boat runs between Miyazu - Amanohashidate - Ine - Ine sightseeing boat pier. The boat has toilet.

Fare:1500yen/one-way, 2700yen/round trip

I highly recommend taking this boat!! From Miyazu pier to end of Amanohashidate, I recommend to stay on the roof then go inside the boat.(Inside the boat has large window)

The local train company name in Tango region will be change.




NOW "KTR=Kitakinki Tango Railway"
From 1st April 2015 "KTR=Kyoto Tango Railway"


Basically abbreviation is the same in English ;)
Although the company want to use "Tantetsu" as the abbreviation in Japanese. So probably you need to use this word to search in the future.




Also some of the stations name will be change.(I only listed up the stations which you maybe come accross while you visiting in Tango region.)
Nodagawa station→Yosano station
Tango-Omiya station→Kyotango-Omiya station
Kitsu-Onsen station→Yuhigaura-Kitsu-Onsen station
Tango-Kanno station→Syotenkyo station




Additionally, the company will start selling 25 different kinds of tickets targeting not only tourists.
So I will not describe all these 25 tickets on my blog, I will only introduce useful tickets for tourists :)
