Snow report from Amanohashidate!

The picture is taken on 15th Jan. 2017. In the mountain, there were about 30-100cm snow on that day. Sightseeing boat and cable car(Kasamatsu Park) run as usual. When it is snowing, trains are weak against the weather, so if you are planning to move on such days in winter, normally I recommend bus(express bus) than trains. For example, on 15th&16th Jan. 2017, express buses from Kyoto&Osaka to Amanohashidate run but almost of all trains were cancelled.

Finally snowed in Tango region!

The picture was taken this morning(12th Jan. 2017) at Kasamatsu park where you can see Amanohashidate as "bridge to heaven". You can see in the picture, there is still no snow on the ground level but on this weekends, according to weather forecast, probably it will snow???

A tree house by the sea in Kumihama

http://www.kyotango.gr.jp/main/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/kumihama5_treehouse.jpg

About 8 years ago, this tree house was built and it was the only tree house in the world which have a full view of the sea at that time. The tree is about 500 years old.  It's like you are in a picture book. I wanted to introduce this place for such a long time but I couldn't due to access condition. Finally, local company started up a shared taxi business so it is a time for me to write about it!

One of the best winter food: Oyster restaurant

For winter season food,  Tango region is known for crab and yellow-tail that I already described in this blog. BUT, there is another winter seafood which is getting popular to eat in Tango region among Japanese tourists is, oyster. The oyster from Tango region is quite famous as one of the best taste oyster in Japan. There are many accommodation in Tango offers oyster for dinner. On my blog, I will write a place where you can eat at a cabin with BBQ style without reservation.
